2009 AMSOIL/Mopar Muscle Engine Challenge Declares a Winner

Last month 8 talented teams of engine builders from across the country descended upon Comp Cams test facility in Memphis to determine which engine was best designed for performance and cost. Last week Mopar Muscle magazine posted the final standings of the AMSOIL/Mopar Muscle Engine Challenge on their website.

As title sponsor for this event AMSOIL was in every engine lending a hand in improving power and performance. Over the course of three days the engines were put through rigorous testing and given an overall rating based on peak horsepower and torque. In the final analysis, the retail cost of parts were tallied and factored into the final score which ultimately determined the winning engine.

This year Schurbon Engine and Machine teamed up with Mopar City to build an impressively powerful, economical stroker big block and earned the first place spot. Nearly 600 horsepower was created by using stock crank and rods, flat-tappet camshaft and cast pistons to create the winning formula. Second place went to Chenowith Speed and Machine with their highest combined horsepower and torque score, with LaRoy engines coming in at a very close third.

Final results:
1. Schurbon Engine and Machine/Mopar City
2. Chenowith Speed and Machine
3. LaRoy Engines
4. ProMax Performance
5. Mid America Racing Engines
6. J D Engine and Machine
7. RM Competition

Congratulations to all participants this year, AMSOIL is already looking forward to seeing next year’s innovations in engine building.

Twin Turbo IS-F @ Miami International Auto Show

Lexus has on display a bright orange twin turbo IS-F at the Miami International Auto Show till next Sunday, the handiwork of Brian Fox, Fox Marketing.

Definitely, the car is a hit for Lexus, attracting plenty of attention to the brand, and the model line.

It's an impeccable build, and even that which you can’t see is superb, including AMSOIL Signature Series Synthetic Motor Oil and drivetrain fluids.

Fox explained why he likes this car. "I love the power; it's a fast car. You're talking 625 horsepower. And I also like that I don't have to change my oil all the time."

Amongst the other Lexus vehicles on display it stands out as cream of the crop, front and center.

Four Wheeler Edition of Top Truck Challenge Hits Newsstands

Back in June AMSOIL sponsored the 2009 Top Truck Challenge in Hollister, CA. To recap, the readers of Four Wheeler Magazine select ten rigs to compete against another in a series of extreme challenges over the course of three days. This year's bragging rights went to Team Green driver David Green and co-driver Nick Souchuk out of Red Deer, Alberta. They just managed to beat out Team Jerome in the final event, coined the Tank Trap, in which they had no other option but to perform well to keep their lead. To give you an idea of the magnitude of this challenge, below the competitors give some choice quotes on what was a grueling, near-impossible, excitement-filled ordeal not soon to be forgotten.

The Tow Test:
‘We crossed the line didn’t we? I mean the starting line.” ~Fred Williams

The Frame Twister:
“ Never seen anything like it other than on the tape… to see it and to live it are two different things.” ~Scott Sidwell

The Mud Pit:
“You’d need 1,100 horsepower and paddles to make it through this.” ~Kevin Stearns

The Obstacle Course:
“That had to be one of the toughest things I’ve ever done in this thing.” ~Scott Sidwell
“ I wanna go home.” ~Fred Williams

The Hillclimb:
“That was a nasty, nasty hill.” ~David Green

The Mini Rubicon:
“When we walked through it I was thinking, holy cow, whoever built this was in a bad mood.” ~Tracy Graf

The Tank Trap:
“The obstacles come at you so fast, boom, boom, boom, as soon as you’re done with one there’s another one there right in your way.” ~Doug Kahlstrom

For a full recap complete with pics, more quotes, and all the nitty-gritty details pick up a copy of December’s Four Wheeler Magazine. Ken Brubaker does an excellent job of portraying the entire three day adventure, and the photos show how it can take down the toughest of trucks in a matter of seconds. Here you can see for yourself why AMSOIL offers the only lubricants suitable for such a twisted event.

Second Round of AMSOIL Products Headed to SEMA’s New Product Showcase

With the world’s largest performance auto show just two weeks away, here’s another preview of AMSOIL products appearing in the 2009 SEMA Show New Product Showcase. It just keeps getting better and better.

AMSOIL Diesel Recovery Emergency Fuel Treatment
Introduced in January, AMSOIL Diesel Recovery is a product every Northern tier diesel owner should have on hand throughout the winter. This fuel additive is cheap insurance and provides peace of mind in the event of gelled diesel fuel and/or frozen fuel filters while getting diesel owners back on the road quickly. Diesel Recovery quickly dissolves the wax crystals that form when diesel fuel passes its cloud point. It liquefies gelled fuel and thaws frozen fuel filters, making it a must for the glove box of any diesel owner living in cold climates. Now available in larger container sizes!

AMSOIL Synthetic Polymeric Heavy Duty Off-Road Grease
Announced in October and designed to accommodate the tough demands of off-road applications, AMSOIL Synthetic Polymeric Off-Road Grease provides performance benefits specific to this market. Combining an over-based calcium-sulfonate complex thickener and polymeric technology, it provides maximum wear protection to meet Caterpillar's requirements for pin and bushing applications. The tough new grease resists pound-out and extends service intervals with superior protection resulting in reduced lubricant, labor and equipment replacement costs.

AMSOIL Injen Intake for 2007 ½ to 2009 Chevy Silverado 2500/3500 Duramax Diesel V8, 6.6L
Last year's AMSOIL/Injen submission to the SEMA New Product Showcase earned us a Global Media Award, and this year we're bringing back a new model for Best New Off-Road/4-Wheel Drive Product. 2007 ½-2009 Chevy Silverado owners with a 2500 or 3500 Duramax Diesel V8 6.6L now have the option of installing a more direct route for air intake systems. With the ability to improve gas mileage and increase performance, AMSOIL/Injen Intake systems have revolutionary Variable Induction Technology. The VI Technology process is a multi-power air induction system that fills the plenum with cool air, giving added power on demand. AMSOIL Ea filter technology offers long filter life while providing superior protection and maximum efficiency.

Watch this space in the coming weeks for updates both live from SEMA and afterwards.

First Look at AMSOIL New Products Headed to SEMA

One of the highlights of the SEMA Show is the New Product Showcase (NPS) featuring the latest innovations in performance, function and style. Because of the ever growing number of new products, the Showcase has outgrown its space and will be moved to a new location in the South Hall where the displays will be less cramped.

For companies that participate, there is an array of awards up for grabs in a variety of award categories. Last year, AMSOIL took home one of ten 2008 SEMA Global Media Awards for the Injen/AMSOIL Intake System. With six new products eligible for submission in this year’s NPS awards, AMSOIL is poised to once again bring some heavy competition to the table. Here is a first look at three new products headed to the showcase.

AMSOIL Synthetic Low-Viscosity Fuel Efficient Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATL)
Formulated with the highest-quality components to exceed even the most stringent industry standards, AMSOIL introduced ATL in June. Today’s transmissions are smaller and smoother-shifting, with longer fluid life and heavier load capabilities than traditional transmission fluids are able to meet. Extended gear life, reduced leaks, rust control and anti-shudder additives are just some of the benefits of this fully-fortified new product.

AMSOIL Synthetic 5W-40 Premium API CJ-4 Diesel Oil (DEO)
Diesel owners of 2007 and newer engines now have the option of increased fuel economy and extended drain intervals, as well as overall better performance with AMSOIL 5W-40 Premium Synthetic Diesel Oil. Introduced in April of 2009, DEO has the wherewithal to endure the demands of modern diesel engines. It provides extraordinary lubrication for diesel engines found in fleet, commercial and personal vehicles while improving fuel economy.

AMSOIL Synthetic Premium API CJ-4 15W-40 Diesel Oil (DME)
Also introduced in the spring of 2009, AMSOIL 15W-40 Premium Synthetic Diesel Oil brings another option for the 2007 and newer diesel engines. With its ability to withstand the stress of heat, soot and acids, this oil delivers unparalleled protection for today’s diesel market. Its low-sulfated ash formulation provides excellent performance in low-emission diesel engines, while controlling soot thickening and wear. Shear stability, reduced oil consumption and lower volatility help reduce emissions, thus improving a diesel’s carbon footprint.
