Honda CR-Z lands Feature Spot at San Diego Auto Show

Chris Mangum of DSO Eyewear first approached AMSOIL for sponsorship as he was preparing for SEMA 2009. As one of 8 builders selected by GM to design a head-turning Camaro for the show, AMSOIL was installed throughout and Chris turned out a successful build that drew lots of looks throughout the week in Las Vegas. That was the beginning of the relationship between AMSOIL and the talented builder Chris Mangum.
The latest project for Chris and DSO Eyewear is his 2011 Honda CR-Z Sport Hybrid, making its third appearance since SEMA 2010 and the LA Auto Show at the San Diego Auto Show last weekend. Sharp enough to land a spot as the main attraction in the Honda booth and sitting on 19" wheels, Chris’ CR-Z shows how much influence the west coast automotive scene has provided him. Extensive modifications from some of the best aftermarket companies in the world round out every detail to make the 2011 CR-Z the stunner it is today, with AMSOIL fluids keeping it humming. From the chassis, suspension and carbon fiber hood to the custom two-tone paint job, nothing was overlooked in creating this high precedent for the next generation of the Honda CR-Z. It’s these kinds of builders that turn to AMSOIL for their lubrication needs because when it looks that good on the outside, it has to perform just as good on the inside.

AMSOIL and Honda a Perfect Fit

AMSOIL has partnered with Fox Marketing to lend support to a promotion in which one lucky winner will drive away in a 2009 customized Honda Fit. A promotion created by Motor Trend Auto Shows, the winner of this vehicle will be announced on January 30 at the Xtreme Ride Revamp event in Harrisburg, PA. This contest is being produced to give back to the community, and show support of the local tuner scene. The Honda Fit was donated by Faulkner Honda in Harrisburg, with the customization designed and coordinated by Brian Fox of Fox Marketing.

"My favorite part of this whole promotion is just seeing someone really appreciate all the hard work that goes into building a car. Someone might be in hard times and really need a car, and it is all about giving back at the end of the day. No money can be put on changing a person’s life!" says Fox. "I'm very honored to work with AMSOIL and their commitment to the performance scene. We see value in the synthetic product line as now a person only needs to change their oil once a year instead over every 3,000 miles. AMSOIL was the right ‘fit’ for this project with their high quality products and value!" We agree.

Fully equipped with AMSOIL lubricants throughout, this ride features an Injen/AMSOIL Intake System as well as custom paint, interior, suspension, sound system and more. Needless to say, the winner of this vehicle will own a unique ride unlike any other.

Emotional Connection

Congratulations to Huy Nguyen, whose '02 Honda S2000 is featured on the cover of this month's Modified Magazine. Spiffed to the hilt with a full array of engine modifications to its F20C 2-liter VTEC engine, Nguyen had to bounce back from a painful setback when the original Civic he'd intended to modify got stolen right in front of his home.

To his credit, the Virginia native poured his energy and passion into the s2000 featured in the magazine. Holding back nothing, he gave attention to every detail, inside and out, including the all important AMSOIL lubricants which keep this very hot car running smooth and cool.

Full feature story in the October issue of Modified.

AMSOIL Synthetics Give Edge to Import Tuner

For a cool story about a hot Subaru, check out the May 2008 issue of Import Tuner Magazine. The six page feature story, "God Don't Like Ugly," begins on page 76. The cover shot is especially sweet with the AMSOIL logo prominent enough, and more so inside.

Ad Age online describes the tuner scene in this way:

"Tuners: They're young, auto-savvy trendsetters willing to spend money customizing or 'tricking out' their cars. It's a Fast and Furious crowd, an urban, hip-hopping car culture with a contemporary twist on the baby boomers' muscle-car era of the 1960s that has inspired everything from specialized magazines to movies and video games."

Import Tuner is one of the leading magazines covering this sector. Some of the hottest tuner cars are listed below.

Chevy Cavalier 1981-2004
Dodge SRT-4 2003-Present new age horsepower wars
Honda Civic 1972-Present
Mazda RX-7 1993-1997
Mitsubishi Lancer EVO 2003-Present turbocharged AWD
Nissan 240SX 1989-1998
Nissan 350Z 2003-Present
Subaru WRX 2002-Present (2005 STI featured here in this story.)
Toyota Supra 1993-1998

The demand for high-performance modifications continues to remain strong, fueled by countless new products, technological developments, and raging dedication and excitement among its dedicated tuner customer base. It's fun to see AMSOIL in the thick of it.
