Oklahoma City Kicks Off 2010 NSRA Nationals

AMSOIL is pleased to announce the event that signals the beginning of a summer filled with NSRA Street Rod National car shows in various cities. Slated to hit the nation from April through October 2010, Oklahoma City kicks off the new season, April 9-11. These events always promise a weekend full of sights, sounds, and entertainment for the whole family. In addition to up close and personal looks at some of the most amazing restored vintage street rods in the country, some special categories are in place to round out the experience. Coined ‘Streets of Rods’ and each equally important in the growth of this industry, the following indicates both new (*) and returning specialized groups.

Tri-Five Drive*
Showcasing 1955-1957 Chevrolet automobiles

BeBOP Boulevard*
Buick, Pontiac and Oldsmobile parking only

Low Lid Lane*
All cars with a chopped top are invited to park here and display their trimmed down bodywork.

29 & Below
Featuring street rods owned and registered by participants 29 years of age and younger. This group represents the next generation of street rodders, and each member plays a large part in keeping the street rod traditions alive.

Pavement Pounders
For the street rod enthusiast that put their rod on the road for more than just car shows. These cars get many miles on the streets and highways of America, and prove they are more than just show vehicles.

Of course, no NSRA Nationals event would be complete without the SuperPrize event, swap meet, Women’s World, exhibits and vendors of all kinds to appeal to any and all spectators. If you are in the Oklahoma City area, make plans now to attend the event that kicks of the first of many throughout the summer. AMSOIL will keep you updated on upcoming events in other cities, so be sure to check back here to see when the NSRA Nationals hit a town near you.

Big Tyme Is Big Time

Don and Erin Brooks of Big Tyme Industries have become an ever-growing presence in the diesel industry with their 2005 Ford Excursion 6.0 Power Stroke Diesel truck. Back in 2008 they made the cover of 8-Lug Diesel Magazine, and AMSOIL has featured this ride in some advertising. Later, the Brooks’ Excursion caught the eye of the powers that be at Truckin’ Magazine and landed a feature there, too. Most recently they have been featured in Performance Audio & Sound Magazine, a testament to the fact that this towering truck is certainly not stepping out of the spotlight any time soon.

Fully loaded with all AMSOIL lubricants, this Excursion is a 10,000 lb. force to be reckoned with. With near 1,000 ft-lbs of torque and 468 WHP (wheel horsepower), this SUV has been modified to the fullest extent. Sitting on 24" rims and an 8” racing lift kit to make this truck stand above all others, Big Tyme features a custom interior fully wrapped in black, pewter, silver and orange suede that matches up with its head-turning exterior. (Full list of mods can be found on their website.)

With a sound system big enough to announce the entrance of this truck long before being seen, Big Tyme lives up to its name on all counts. It’s not just a show truck, but a daily driver that doubles as a moving billboard for their automotive parts and accessories business. Which is good, because a truck with this much moxie deserves as much street time as possible.

Live From Daytona Bike Week

Daytona Bike Week officially kicked off on Friday February 26 with hundreds of thousands of spectators expected to arrive. AMSOIL has a huge presence and though the rain made for a bit of a late start, it didn’t stop the rumble from descending on Daytona for long. With countless events going on throughout the entire 10-day festival, Daytona is hard-pressed for dull moments. An immeasurable quantity of bikes, from Harleys to Hondas and everything in between, fill the streets and give everyone something to look at as they make their way to various destinations. From the sounds of the first update from the AMSOIL crew in attendance, things are off to a great start.

The 69th Annual Bike Week In Daytona Beach Florida kicked off this weekend and AMSOIL was there to be a part of it. This is AMSOIL's second year as the Official Oil of Bike Week. Things started very slow on Saturday with rain most of the day and temperatures in the 40's. Come Sunday the sun was out and the Bikers were too. Thousands of them flocked to Riverfront Park on Beach Street to enjoy the food, music and fun. For the first time Harley Davidson had their corporate tent in the park, and the riders came to see it. AMSOIL was once again in the Welcome Center along with the Daytona Beach Chamber of Commerce. The rally lasts through the week and wraps up on Sunday March 7.

If interested in catching a glimpse of the action, the AMSOIL team is sending photos which are being archived here.
